Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour Accuses APC of Disrupting ADC Meeting in Mushin

Former Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of using thugs and police operatives to stop a scheduled African Democratic Congress (ADC) meeting in Mushin Local Government Area.

Rhodes-Vivour made the allegation in a statement posted on Friday, condemning what he described as a “show of fear and incompetence” by the APC after more than two decades of controlling Lagos politics.

Quoting the Oba of Benin, he wrote:

If you do well by the people, you will have no fear of the people’s vote.”

He added that, “The APC has controlled the affairs of Lagos State for over two decades, and this is how terrified they are. This is their own indictment of their failure. Violence and intimidation are the last refuge of incompetence.”

According to the ADC’s report shared by Rhodes-Vivour, the party’s Mushin LGA meeting scheduled for Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. was disrupted after the booked venue was sealed off by suspected APC thugs and security personnel.

The statement alleged that police vans were stationed at the entrance of the venue, preventing ADC members from accessing the premises. When party officials contacted the management of the facility, they were reportedly told the hall could no longer be used because of a “naming ceremony.”

However, upon arrival, the ADC leaders claimed they found APC supporters occupying the venue and “dancing to music” instead of any event taking place.
