Tambuwal Accuses Tinubu Of Failed Leadership, Urges Nigerians To Vote Out APC In 2027

Former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration, accusing it of failing to provide effective leadership and fulfil key promises made to Nigerians ahead of the 2023 general election.

Tambuwal made the remarks on Wednesday at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential campaign flag-off in Sokoto, where he called on Nigerians to vote out the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election.

The former governor faulted the Tinubu administration over persistent challenges in electricity supply, insecurity, road infrastructure, hunger and poverty, insisting that the government had failed to deliver meaningful improvements in these areas.

“Bola Tinubu and his team have failed woefully in providing leadership for Nigeria,” Tambuwal declared.

He recalled that Tinubu had promised to improve electricity supply during the 2023 presidential campaign, questioning what the administration had achieved in the power sector and other critical areas of national development.

Tambuwal also accused the President’s supporters in the North of campaigning on his past political alliances rather than presenting his performance since assuming office.

He referenced Tinubu’s political relationships with Atiku Abubakar in 2007, Nuhu Ribadu in 2011, and former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 and 2019, arguing that Nigerians should judge the President based on his record in government.

“They are not campaigning on his scorecard. He is a sitting president. What has he done? What has he achieved in the last three and a half years? Nigeria has been retrogressing. There is a lot of hunger, a lot of poverty and a lot of killings all over Nigeria,” he said.

The former governor urged Nigerians to support ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and other candidates of the party in the 2027 elections.

He also called on party supporters to remain vigilant at polling units until votes were counted and results officially declared, warning against electoral malpractice.

Tambuwal further urged ADC members to monitor the movement of election results from polling units to ward, local government and state collation centres to safeguard the party’s votes.

“You must accompany each and every polling unit result to the ward level, then to the local government headquarters and subsequently to the state headquarters, where they will be matched,” he said.

He maintained that Nigerians must prioritise effective leadership and national development over political loyalty as the country approaches the 2027 general election.
