Tension in Asaba as Young Lady Kidnapped on Her Way Home From Work

Young Lady

A 22-year-old woman, identified as Uche Chukwurah, has been declared missing after she was allegedly abducted on her way home from work in Asaba, Delta State.

According to reports, Uche closed from work on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, and boarded a commercial tricycle (popularly known as Keke Napep) around Ibusa Junction, but she never made it home.

Later that night, her family reportedly received a distressing call from her abductors, who demanded a ransom for her release. However, sources close to the family revealed that her father is unable to meet the kidnappers’ financial demands.

Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu raised alarm over the incident in a social media post, decrying the rising cases of missing persons and kidnappings in Asaba and other parts of Delta State.

Too many reports of missing persons and kidnapping cases lately. Uche’s abduction is one of many happening daily. The question is how careful can anyone really be?” Gwamnishu lamented.

He called on security agencies to intensify efforts to locate the victim and bring the perpetrators to justice, while urging the Delta State Government to prioritize citizens’ safety.
