Social media activist, VeryDarkMan (VDM), has described the sentencing of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, as a “distraction,” arguing that the development has shifted public attention away from Nigeria’s deepening security challenges.
Speaking in a recent online commentary, VDM said many Nigerians misunderstood his stance and criticised him unfairly for suggesting that Kanu’s case was being amplified at a time when the country is grappling with widespread insecurity.
He acknowledged that Kanu made statements that amounted to the incitement of violence but maintained that the severity of his actions does not compare to those of other individuals “who are being offered peace deals despite their roles in destabilising the nation.”
VDM accused Nigerians of failing to pay attention to the larger picture, insisting that national focus should be directed toward addressing the escalating threats of terrorism, banditry, and other forms of criminality across the country.
