ADC Rejects Reported Expulsion of Rep. Abijide, Says Move Is Illegal

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed the reported expulsion of Hon. Leke Joseph Abijide, who represents Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, describing it as an illegitimate attempt by certain coalition interests to destabilize the party.

In a statement issued by the Director of Media and Public Affairs, Dr. Christopher O. Okechukwu, the party said recent actions by some coalition members contradict the values of the ADC and are aimed at undermining its collective progress.

The party noted that Hon. Abijide has continued to support efforts to restore the legitimate leadership of the ADC and ensure a credible national convention.

According to the party, those pushing the expulsion are unregistered, self-appointed individuals posing as members of the National Working Committee in a bid to interfere in party affairs and target an elected representative.

The ADC described the move as an attempt to sideline loyal members and seize control of party structures for personal interests.

Reaffirming its position, the ADC said the individuals involved lack the authority to discipline a bona fide member of the party, let alone an elected lawmaker.

The party restated its commitment to safeguarding internal democracy and resisting any attempt to hijack its structures.
