The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the first quarter of the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will formally close on Wednesday, 10 December 2025.
The exercise, which began with online pre-registration on 18 August 2025, followed by in-person registration on 25 August 2025 across the 774 Local Government Areas, all State Offices, and the Federal Capital Territory, is progressing as scheduled.
In accordance with Section 19 of the Electoral Act 2022, INEC will conduct the Display of the Register of Voters for Claims and Objections from 15 to 21 December 2025. The display will be held at the Local Government Offices where registration took place.
The Commission urged all eligible voters—particularly those who registered, transferred, or updated their details during this phase—to use the statutory window to verify their information, report any errors, and flag the names of ineligible or deceased persons. INEC emphasized that public scrutiny is vital to maintaining the integrity of the national voter register.
Providing its weekly update, the Commission revealed that by the end of the 13th week of the exercise, it had received 9,891,801 online pre-registrations nationwide. Of this figure, 2,572,054 registrations have been fully completed, comprising 1,503,832 online completions and 1,068,222 physical registrations as of 28 November 2025.
INEC also reiterated that the CVR exercise in Anambra State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) remains suspended due to ongoing electoral activities. New dates for resumption will be announced later.
The Commission confirmed that the second phase of the CVR will commence on 5 January 2026, in line with the previously released schedule.
INEC reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a credible, transparent, and inclusive voter register and called on Nigerians to continue supporting efforts to strengthen the nation’s electoral process.
