The Enugu State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reassured residents of the state of its commitment to good governance and democratic ideals, declaring its readiness to reclaim the state in the 2027 general elections.
The party gave the assurance during a recent stakeholders’ meeting held in Enugu, where party leaders, ward executives and supporters converged to review the political situation in the state and strategise ahead of future elections.
Addressing party members, the PDP State Acting Chairman Hon Vitus Okechi described the current administration in the state as a “temporary setback,” insisting that the party remains strong, united and firmly rooted among the people of Enugu.
He said the PDP’s legacy of infrastructural development, public service reforms and grassroots empowerment in the state cannot be erased.
Okechi noted that the party was already reorganising its structures from the ward to the state level to ensure victory in 2027.
“The PDP remains the party of the people in Enugu State. We are reconnecting with our grassroots, rebuilding confidence and strengthening internal democracy. The people of Enugu deserve better governance, and by the grace of God and the will of the people, we shall reclaim the state in 2027,” the statement read.
He called on members who may have been aggrieved during previous elections to sheath their swords and work collectively for the interest of the state, stressing that unity would be key to returning the PDP to power.
The PDP Acting Chairman urged residents to remain hopeful, assuring them that the party would present credible, competent and people-oriented candidates at all levels in the next general elections.
The meeting ended with a call for sustained mobilisation, peaceful political engagement and renewed commitment to the ideals of democracy and good governance in Enugu
