
The National Assembly has approved a total of ₦1.504tn as budgetary allocation for the Nigerian Army in the 2026 fiscal year, assuring the military high command of prompt release of appropriated funds.
A joint committee of the Senate and House of Representatives on Army expressed satisfaction with the ₦1,504,251,069,722 proposal during a budget defence session with the Chief of Army Staff in Abuja on Monday.
Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Abdulaziz Yar’Adua, disclosed this after the joint session with the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede.
In his remarks, Chairman of the House Committee on Army, Aminu Balele, commended the Chief of Army Staff and personnel of the Army for their commitment in combating insurgency and safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity.
He pledged that the House committee would continue to push for timely release of funds to enable the Army discharge its constitutional responsibilities effectively.
