Boko Haram Ambush Kills Vigilante Member on Warave–Gwoza Road, Borno

Suspected Boko Haram militants have ambushed members of a vigilante group along the Warave–Gwoza Road in Gwoza, killing one person.

The attack occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday when gunmen opened fire on members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local hunters during their routine patrol in the area.

A CJTF member, Bello Adamu, 50, sustained fatal injuries and was evacuated to the General Hospital in Gwoza, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His remains were later released to his family and buried according to Islamic rites.

Following the ambush, troops of Operation HADIN KAI were deployed to the scene, with monitoring and patrols intensified along the road to prevent further attacks.

Security officials have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, emphasizing that the military continues to strengthen operations against terrorist groups in the region.
