U.S. Congressman Riley Moore has condemned the latest killings in Jos, calling the attack “sickening and unacceptable” and warning that it follows a recurring pattern of violence against Christians during holy periods.
“This is sickening and unacceptable, but it’s not surprising. This tragedy follows a pattern of terrorists massacring Christians on Holy Days.”
He further urged Nigerian authorities to strengthen security, stating that Abuja “must ramp up” efforts to protect vulnerable communities.
His reaction follows reports that at least 10 Christians were killed during a Palm Sunday attack on March 29, 2026, in Jos, Plateau State.
According to local humanitarian sources and eyewitness accounts, gunmen stormed communities, including student populated areas, opening fire on residents. Homes were reportedly targeted during the violence, leaving multiple casualties.
Casualty figures remain unconfirmed, with authorities yet to release a full official account as investigations continue.
Some local sources indicate the affected areas are mixed communities, while several Christian focused groups and activists allege that Christian residents were specifically targeted, particularly given the timing on a major religious day.
