Former Lagos State Governor and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Babatunde Raji Fashola, has been appointed a Bencher of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by the Body of Benchers.
The appointment, which became effective March 31, 2026, adds to Fashola’s long record of service in Nigeria’s legal and public sectors. The Body of Benchers serves as the highest governing authority of the Nigerian legal profession, overseeing the call to the Bar and the discipline of lawyers.
A former Minister of Works and Housing, Fashola now joins the distinguished body responsible for maintaining the ethics, standards, and traditions of the legal profession in the country.
Many in legal and political circles have described the appointment as a fitting recognition of his decades of leadership, professionalism, and contribution to national development.
