Nigerian activist and politician Omoyele Sowore has responded to comments surrounding controversial social media figure VeryDarkMan, stating that he played a crucial role in securing his early release during a past legal ordeal.
In a statement, Sowore said that his intervention on Easter Sunday in 2024 was instrumental in ensuring that VeryDarkMan regained his freedom at a critical time.
“If I had not intervened in VeryDarkMan’s situation on Easter Sunday in 2024, the first time he experienced freedom, which he now often talks about, he wouldn’t be able to do what he’s doing today,” Sowore said.
He added that abandoning the influencer during his time in detention could have significantly altered his current trajectory and public presence.
“If I had abandoned him in prison at that time, things would be very different. He might not be the VeryDarkMan everyone is talking about today,” he stated.
