Member representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency, Hon. Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

His resignation letter was announced during plenary at the House of Representatives by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas. Bello El-Rufai confirmed that he will now seek re-election under the ADC platform, describing the move as part of a new political direction focused on progressive and people-oriented service.

The lawmaker disclosed that he was joined in the defection by Hon. Suleiman Richifa, representing Soba, and Hon. Umar Ajilo, representing Makarfi/Kudan, as they collectively align with the ADC ahead of future political activities.

In his statement, Bello El-Rufai said the decision was made after careful consideration, adding that his commitment to Kaduna North remains unchanged. He also announced plans to launch a Primary Health Care initiative aimed at equipping health centres with essential medical supplies, beginning with facilities in Unguwar Sarki Ward and Badarawa/Malali Ward.

The development adds to the growing wave of political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, especially within Kaduna State politics.
