Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has highlighted his administration’s achievements in infrastructure and education, claiming that the state has risen from 33rd to seventh position in national academic performance rankings during his tenure.
Adeleke made the remarks while recounting his political journey and the challenges he faced during the 2018 governorship election.
The governor said he contested the election in 2018 but was “cheated,” after which he returned to the United States to complete his education before coming back to Nigeria in 2022 to contest again.
According to him, his victory in 2022 gave him the opportunity to fulfil his promise to govern Osun State with the fear of God and deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.
Adeleke said his administration’s achievements were evident across the state, particularly in infrastructure, noting that several projects had transformed the state capital and other major cities.
He cited the construction of flyovers, dualised roads and bridges as some of the major projects undertaken by his administration.
“Just yesterday, Ife, the cradle of Yoruba land, we went there to commission a dualised road that leads to the palace of Ooni. And, of course, the dualised road and the bridge,” he said.
The governor also mentioned the dualisation of roads in Ila, describing the project as unprecedented in the history of Osun State.
On education, Adeleke said his administration was dissatisfied with the state’s previous performance in national examinations and decided to prioritise improvements in the sector.
He claimed that Osun was previously ranked 33rd in Nigeria but had now moved to seventh position under his administration.
“Today, I’m happy to tell you, in fact, because, fact check, we are number seven today,” Adeleke said, adding that the administration’s target was to sustain and improve the state’s educational performance.
The governor maintained that the achievements of his administration across infrastructure and education demonstrated the impact of his government on the people of Osun State.
