Evelyn, the chief executive officer of 44 Clothing, has broken her silence following her disappearance, apologising to her family and friends while recounting how a disagreement with her boyfriend, Derrick, allegedly began.
In a statement shared after she was found, Evelyn said the disagreement started a day before her disappearance after a blog published a post, prompting Derrick to accuse her of being the source of information supplied to the platform.
She said the situation added to the emotional difficulties she had been experiencing, leaving her to deal with heartbreak amid the disagreement.
“I’m really sorry to my family and friends for allowing my emotions to get the best of me. A day before my disappearance, a blog made a post, and my boyfriend, Derrick, accused me of being the one sending information to the blog,” she said.
“Despite everything I’ve been going through, I now have to deal with heartbreak as well,” she added.

Meanwhile, Harrison Gwamnishu, who had been involved in efforts to locate Evelyn, disclosed that he met with her in Lagos and that she was being taken to the Victoria Island Divisional Police Headquarters, where her disappearance had initially been reported, to explain what transpired.
Gwamnishu said he questioned Evelyn over her disappearance for several days without contacting her family, noting that her absence had left relatives worried and panicked.
He also criticised Derrick over allegations that he left Evelyn alone on a bridge late at night and drove away without her phones.
According to Gwamnishu, the circumstances surrounding the incident appeared to involve heartbreak and emotional distress, although the full details of what happened had yet to be officially established.
He maintained that his involvement in the search was motivated by concern for Evelyn and her family, adding that he would offer similar assistance in future situations.
The development follows days of public concern over Evelyn’s whereabouts, with social media users sharing information and appealing for assistance in locating her.
Gwamnishu expressed appreciation to those who supported the search and urged people to communicate openly, care for one another and take emotional well-being seriously.
He also emphasised that relationships should not come at the expense of personal peace and safety.
