Political commentator Isaac Fayose has urged African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, to reconsider his approach towards other opposition figures and focus on building a united front against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Fayose made the appeal while reacting to the reported attack on Sowore and members of his campaign team in Ekiti State on Friday.
Reacting to the incident, Fayose argued that opposition politicians should recognise their common political interests and stop engaging in internal attacks, particularly against the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi.
In a video shared on his Facebook page, Fayose accused Sowore of repeatedly criticising Obi instead of directing his attention towards challenging the APC-led administration of President Bola Tinubu.
He maintained that the opposition needed to put aside personal and political differences to confront what he described as a common challenge to Nigeria’s democracy.
“Instead of attacking Peter Obi, you can see now that we have a bigger enemy. APC led by President Bola Tinubu is the enemy of our country.
“They are the ones destroying our democracy. They are the ones killing our democracy. We need to come together to fight them,” Fayose said.
He further recalled reported attacks on opposition figures in Benue, Plateau and other parts of the country, questioning why Sowore had not previously shown solidarity with those affected.
Fayose also declared that he did not feel sorry for Sowore over the reported incident, insisting that opposition leaders must stop fighting among themselves and work together ahead of the 2027 elections.
He concluded by calling on Sowore and other opposition politicians to unite and channel their political energy towards challenging the APC.
