In futherance of its ideals to entrench the culture of free speech, responsible and accessible media to all citizens, as exemplified by two illustrious media giants, Prof Chinua Achebe and Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, who hail from Anambra State, the Association of Digital Media Core Advocates, ADMCA, a pan Nigeria media advocacy group, has adopted November 27 as Anambra Media Day. Anambra Media Day will be an annual event that celebrates and brings awareness to the importance of upholding media ethics amongst the millions of citizen journalists who tell their beautiful and unique stories from diverse platforms reflective of the times.
Anambra Media Day being championed by Association of Digital Media Core Advocates, ADMCA, will be officially launched on Wednesday, 27th November at Best Western Meloch Hotel, Ifite, Awka, Anambra state during the 2019 edition of the Anambra Media Excellence Awards.
“The Anambra Media Day will be celebrated all through the state by anyone who wants to ensure that the media landscape remains inclusive for all TV, film, Radio, Online and mobile device artists. The idea basically is to ensure that everyone is made a responsible stakeholder of the revolutionary media environment being entrenched by technology. This yearly celebration will draw attention to our roles as citizens or practitioners. Anambra Media Day has been integrated into November 27 which is significant as the birth annivesaries of the literary giant, Chinua Achebe and Great Zik of Africa, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe,” reads a press statement from the ADMCA secretariat at Awka Anambra State.
The event kicks off at 3pm.
