
A coalition of aggrieved veteran politicians, grassroot mobilizers, ward leaders and party faithfuls in Enugu north senatorial zone has convened to review political situation and persistent neglect of stakeholders in the senatorial zone of the state.
The Enugu north senatorial zone has reportedly began strategic consultations and political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, raising fresh concerns over possible realignments within the state political structure.
Hon.Ifeanyi Ugwujah chairman, aggreved veteran politicians in Enugu north senatorial zone said the meeting was drawn from different political backgrounds to review the current political atmosphere in Enugu north and the state at large, expressed, dissatisfaction over what he described as “growing exclusion, political intimidation and concentration of power in the hands of a few individuals over the years.”
After extensive deliberations, the aggreved veteran politicians issued communique which read in parts: “We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to democracy, peace and development of Enugu north senatorial zone and the state at large, to chat a new course and take our destiny in our hands.
“We condemn deceit in totality, after elections our leaders will pick their children, cousins , nephews, In-laws for elective positions and appointments but come back during elections to deceive us and our followers.
“We express disappointment over the continuous marginalization, neglect and aboundment of veterans and stakeholders of the six local government areas in the state.
“We also condemn the growing trend whereby few political elites hijack the dividends of our collective struggles while others wallop in abject poverty and penury, used and dumped after elections.
“We are committed to remain united and continue consultations with relevant stakeholders, pursue justice, equality and fairplay, political inclusion of all committed followers in Enugu north senatorial zone.
“The interest and welfare of grassroot mobilizers and veterans must be given priority attention in political arrangements and governance to
“We reiterate that sustainable political success be achieved when loyalty, sacrifice, commitment and results are appreciated and rewarded.
“We, therefore call on all veterans and followers to keep watch as the serpents are planning to creep in again to destroy the fortunes of Enugu north zone for their selfish interests, after using us, they will present their children, cousins, In-laws for appointments.
The resolution of the veterans, adopted and signed by both chairman and secretary Hon.ifeanyi Ugwujah and Chief Linus Uroko Eze respectively expressed commitment intentions to rescue democratic participation in Enugu north senatorial zone, inclusive governance across the three senatorial zones of the state.
“According to the chairman Hon. Ugwujah, we cannot continue to watch in silence while democratic institutions and internal party structures are weakened. Enugu state belongs to all and not a select few. The time has come for genuine consultations and people-oriented leadership” he noted.
