The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has reacted to a viral social media post allegedly linked to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Joash Amupitan, which referenced the phrase “victory is sure.”
The controversy stems from an X post said to be associated with pro-All Progressives Congress supporters, which reportedly included the statement: “Victory is sure.”
Reacting to the development, Akpabio clarified that the phrase did not specify any political party, insisting it was taken out of context.
“He did not say, ‘Victory is sure for APC or PDP.’ He only said, ‘Victory is sure.’ He said the account was manipulated,” Akpabio stated.
He further added that regardless of whether the post was altered or not, the statement in question was made when the individual was still a lecturer, emphasizing that it should not be misinterpreted politically.
