Residents of Ojoto community in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State have pledged their support for Senator Uche Ekwunife, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Anambra Central Senatorial District, ahead of the 2027 general election.

The pledge was made during the third day of Ekwunife’s ongoing community tour, which attracted a mammoth crowd of supporters, traditional leaders, party stakeholders and residents of the community.

The atmosphere in Ojoto was charged with excitement as supporters chanted “Nwanyi ge jee” and “Ka Nwanyi jekene” long before the arrival of the former senator, signalling their enthusiasm for her senatorial ambition.

Speaking on behalf of the traditional institution, Chief Romanus Anyisia, Ichie Obodo Dike II, who led the Igwe-in-Council and represented Igwe Gerald Mbamalu, declared the community’s support for Ekwunife’s aspiration.

He described her candidacy as one built on a record of experience and performance, insisting that her political credentials had been tested and trusted across Anambra Central.

According to him, Ojoto would not allow itself to be deceived by political promises but would support a candidate with a demonstrable record of service.

The event was attended by several political figures and dignitaries, including Hon. KK Ezekwelu, APC candidate for Idemili North and South Federal Constituency; Chief Augustine Muomaife; Hon. Ossy Egwuatu; Dr Chidi Chidubem; Rev. Uche Ibeabuchi; Hon. Tony Uche Ezekwelu; and Okello Madukaife.

Leading the party’s mobilisation, the APC Zonal Vice Chairman, Chief Augustine Muomaife, urged the people of Ojoto to support a candidate whose previous tenure in the Senate, he said, demonstrated vision, capacity and commitment to public service.

Similarly, Hon. KK Ezekwelu expressed confidence in the party’s chances, assuring that the APC would record a massive victory in Ojoto during the 2027 elections.

Addressing the enthusiastic gathering, Senator Ekwunife highlighted some of her previous interventions in the community, including the provision of boreholes, educational materials, tricycles, solar-powered streetlights and financial grants to 17 indigenes of Ojoto.

She urged residents not to be swayed by politicians who, according to her, only remember the community during election periods but disappear after securing political support.

The APC candidate also called on voters to support the party across all elective positions, advocating an APC victory from top to bottom.

She argued that having a senator, a House of Representatives member and a federal government from the same political party would promote effective collaboration, strengthen representation and make it easier to attract development projects to the constituency.
