An All Progressives Congress (APC) supporter has struggled to name a single commodity whose price has reduced since President Bola Tinubu assumed office, eventually admitting that he could not mention any product during a street interview that has gone viral on social media.

In the viral video, an interviewer approached the man and asked who he intended to vote for in the 2027 general election.

The respondent identified himself as an APC member and declared his support for Tinubu, saying he would vote for the president in the next election.

However, the conversation took a different turn when the interviewer asked him to mention one product whose price had dropped since Tinubu became president in May 2023.

The interviewer expressed excitement at finally meeting an APC member who could directly address the question, which he claimed he had repeatedly asked without receiving a satisfactory answer.

In response, the supporter said prices do not fall immediately after government interventions, arguing that even when measures are introduced to reduce the cost of goods, their effects may take time to become noticeable.

He also defended the Tinubu administration, claiming that the president had invested significantly in education.

Unsatisfied with the response, the interviewer pressed him further, specifically mentioning garri, rice and other commodities as examples of essential goods whose prices Nigerians would expect to see reduced.

He repeatedly asked the APC supporter to identify at least one commodity that had become cheaper under the current administration.

After several exchanges, the man eventually conceded that he could not name any product.

“No product I can mention,” he said.

The exchange has drawn attention to the debate over the rising cost of living, food prices and the economic impact of the Tinubu administration’s policies ahead of the 2027 general election.

Since assuming office, Tinubu’s administration has implemented major economic reforms, including the removal of the petrol subsidy and changes to the foreign exchange system. These policies have been accompanied by significant increases in the cost of essential goods and services, intensifying public debate over their impact on ordinary Nigerians.

The viral interview has further highlighted the challenge facing the ruling party as Nigerians assess the government’s economic performance and consider their choices ahead of the next general election.
