The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested arrested a 23-year-old woman, Fatima Ibrahim, for allegedly poisoning her six-year-old stepson in Kwaimawa community, Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesperson for the command, SP Nafiu Habib, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, October 26, 2026 said the child, Mubarak Ibrahim, allegedly died after he took a drink given to him by the suspect.
According to the PPRO, the boy started vomiting uncontrollably after taking the drink on October 16.
His family rushed him to PHC Kwaimawa and then to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Gombe, where doctors battled to save him, for eight days.
On October 24, 2026, he was confirmed de@d by doctors.
Following a report by the Village Head of Kwaimawa, detectives swung into action and arrested the suspect.
She is now in custody as investigation continues.
