The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested six suspects in separate operations across the state, including a 60-year-old man accused of abducting a 16-year-old boy.
The command also recovered suspected stolen property and rescued the teenager unharmed during the operations carried out on September 28, 2026.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the kidnapping incident was reported at the Yana Divisional Police Headquarters after the teenager’s father raised the alarm over his son’s disappearance.
Habib said the 16-year-old, identified as Usman Dauda, was allegedly taken from Misau town to Bangala Village by 60-year-old Abdullahi Abubakar, who reportedly intended to transport him to Kano for an undisclosed reason.
Police detectives responded to the report, rescued the teenager and arrested the suspect.
The victim was subsequently taken to General Hospital Yana for medical examination.
The police spokesman said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect allegedly kept the teenager confined in a room for about a day without adequate feeding.
In another operation, five suspects were arrested at Doya Quarters in Bauchi over alleged criminal conspiracy, trespass, housebreaking, mischief and theft.
The suspects were reportedly caught after allegedly breaking into an incomplete building and removing windows and glass. Police operatives, acting on intelligence, arrested them and recovered the suspected stolen items.
The command also reported another recovery operation at about 5:30am, following information about suspected stolen property concealed in a black bag.
Police operatives arrested the suspects and recovered the items, which were later identified by their owners after they provided proof of ownership.
The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that all the cases be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation and prosecution.
The command urged residents to continue providing credible and timely information to the police to assist efforts to combat crime across the state.
