Breaking: The Osun State Police Command has summoned Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, over his now-viral comment allegedly calling on supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to “kill” members of the rival Accord Party.
The summons follows widespread outrage on social media over the senator’s alleged remarks during an APC campaign in Ilesa, Osun State, where he was said to have instructed party supporters to attack or kill Accord members if encountered during the electoral process.
In a letter dated August 11, 2026, the police invited Fadahunsi to clarify the circumstances surrounding the statements attributed to him.
The letter, signed by Samuel Etaifo Erale, the Commissioner of Police in charge of elections in Osun State, directed the senator to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Osogbo at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12.
According to the police, the invitation was based on information alleging that Fadahunsi made statements considered “threatening, inciting and intimidating” during the campaign programme.
The police also noted that the alleged remarks had been circulated widely across electronic and social media platforms.
The development comes amid heightened political tension in Osun State ahead of the governorship election, with parties and political actors trading accusations over alleged threats, violence and attempts to intimidate supporters.
The senator’s response to the police invitation and the outcome of his appearance before the SCID are expected to provide further clarity on the controversy.
