In commemoration of this year’s Children’s Day, the Mayor of Awka North Local Government Area, Hon. ThankGod Chibuike Anago, joined millions across the globe in celebrating the importance and potential of children, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to safeguarding their rights and improving their wellbeing.
The theme for this year’s celebration, “Enhancing the Total Wellbeing of Children Through Quality Education and Skill Development,” underscores the ongoing fight against societal issues such as child labour, human trafficking, displacement due to insecurity, and inadequate learning environments.
Speaking on the significance of the day, Hon. Anago emphasized that these challenges remain central to the policy priorities of his administration. “We are committed to playing our part in promoting and protecting the rights of every child in Awka North. Quality education and skill development are essential in shaping a brighter future for our children,” he stated.
The Mayor also called on families and communities to take an active role in nurturing and protecting children, recognizing them as the leaders of tomorrow. “It begins with a little footstep and ends with a brighter future,” he added.
In his heartfelt message to residents, he concluded, “Once again, Happy Children’s Day Ndi Awka North.”
