Veteran Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu has sparked conversations on social media after sharing his views on what should truly matter when choosing a life partner.
In a statement that has generated mixed reactions, the actor argued that virginity alone does not determine whether someone is suitable for marriage, stressing that good character should always take priority.
According to Agu, while virginity may symbolize purity, it does not automatically reflect loyalty, emotional maturity, kindness or the ability to build a healthy relationship.
He also advised women not to choose a husband solely because he is a virgin, handsome, wealthy or successful, noting that such qualities do not guarantee a happy marriage.
The veteran actor urged singles to prioritize partners whose character has been tested and proven, adding that qualities such as kindness, respect, emotional maturity, commitment and the fear of God are more important for a lasting union.
Agu concluded that while finding a partner who possesses both virginity and admirable character is a blessing, character remains the true foundation of a successful and enduring marriage.
