Did Anyone Beg You to Lead? — Falz Fires Back at First Lady

Falz and Remi Tinubu

Rapper and actor Falz has criticised the federal government’s priorities, questioning its spending amid the country’s security challenges while dismissing the First Lady’s remarks that the pressure on the government is too much and that the younger generation should help.

Speaking during a recent interview on Arise TV, Falz questioned whether establishing more foundations was the solution to Nigeria’s problems.

“Is that the solution to our problems? More foundations? It’s absurd. It’s absurd,” he said.

He also criticised government spending, saying, “If you look at what has been spent on acquiring new vehicles, acquiring jets, acquiring all these things, and look at what has actually gone on with insecurity and what we’re facing, what are your priorities? And you’re out here talking to individuals. This is actually your job to do. It’s wild.”

Responding to the First Lady’s recent comment that the pressure on the government is too much and that the younger generation should help, Falz rejected the argument.

“What do you mean pressure on the government? Did anyone beg you to take up this role?” he asked.

Referring to the administration’s campaign slogan, “E mi l’okan,” Falz said, “Do you know what that translates to in English? It is my turn. I’ve never seen anything more absurd than that in my entire life.”

He continued, “That means from day one that you set out on your political journey, this is the day that you have been waiting for. So what can you come and say pressure is much on you? Are you okay?”
