“Enough is Enough” — Sowore Slams MTN, Airtel And Glo Over Alleged Exploitation

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has raised alarm over what he described as widespread exploitation by Nigeria’s major telecommunications providers, accusing them of defrauding subscribers through questionable billing practices and poor service delivery.

In a strongly worded statement shared on social media, Sowore singled out leading telecom companies including MTN Nigeria, Airtel Nigeria, and Globacom, alleging that they engage in schemes that result in “bogus airtime and data charges” for millions of users.

He further lamented the state of internet access in the country, revealing that even his subscription to Starlink, owned by Elon Musk, costs him approximately £72 monthly yet delivers only inconsistent service.

According to Sowore, Nigerians are being forced to pay high prices for digital services that are often unreliable, despite the growing importance of connectivity for daily life, business operations, and civic engagement.

> “Nigerians are being forced to pay premium prices for substandard, unreliable digital access… It is time to reclaim our digital communication rights,” he stated.
