Hon. Chineme Agu was born in Udueme but hails from Aku in Igbo-Etiti LGA. He is a brother and a friend. We attended junior secondary school at Sacred Heart Seminary Nsude in 1983 when he started exhibiting his talent as a social activist. At such a tender age, his passion for leadership and entertainment through his novel songs attracted almost all the students to him during recreations. His sincerity to his true identity earned him a name, Sir Mud, which has created a lasting impression amongst our classmates up to this day.
We met again as the pioneer students of OSISATECH Polytechnic, Enugu in 1990 when his exact uniqueness and personality was brought to the limelight. His enthusiasm and positivity towards fairness and equity to all, characterized his strength to fight for justice to ensure that no student was harassed or molested in any form outside the school premises, Ogui Road and the environs. I was a beneficiary to this truth. I remember his words to me then and I quote. “Sunny, if anybody touches you, tell me. My power can never fail me”. These will also serve as a pointer to his moral integrity.
Today, many people know Hon. Chineme Agu as a fighter which, I suppose has earned him the brand name “O one Power”. My closeness to Agu reveals that he is a positive fighter in all aspects of life. Diligently working towards his destiny as a leader, he served as a ward counsellor in our town, Aku in 1999 for four years. At the University of Nigeria Nsukka, he showcased his leadership qualities as a students’ union leader. In addition, he was a former Executive Assistant and a former Special Assistant to the current regime of Enugu state government. Currently, he is the leader of Coalition of Masters of Ceremony, Enugu State for Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Gburugburu, the governor of Enugu state and also the DG, Gburugburu Jingle Artists Support Group and member of other support groups all for Gburugburu. Hon. Agu is a leader and a Master of Ceremony par excellence.
The love he has for people cuts across ethnic boundaries. Mindful and respectful for cultural differences, Hon. Agu has visited a number of towns in Igbo-Etiti LGA and Nsukka senatorial zone through his work as a leader and Master of Ceremony earning him accolade from the people of Igbo-Etiti LGA and Nsukka at large. It might interest you to watch one of his videos posted below as an MC in one of the welcoming ceremonies of Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the governor of Enugu state which attested to this fact.
Hon. Agu’s loyalty to people is unflappable. His determination towards achieving whatever he sets out to accomplish is inestimable. Needless to say, with the same grace I believe he will be able to run our Local Government Area effectively.
On 29th February 2020, I strongly encourage you to vote for Hon. Chineme Agu. His governance will make Igbo-Etiti LGA a force to be admired. He deserves every vote.
