FG Adopts OKOBI Initiative to Boost Grassroots Enterprise Development — Uzodimma

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has announced that the Federal Government has adopted the state’s “One Kindred, One Business Initiative (OKOBI)” as part of efforts to expand grassroots economic development and job creation across Nigeria.

Uzodimma disclosed this after receiving a delegation from the Office of the Vice President, who conveyed the Federal Government’s decision to scale up the initiative nationwide.

According to him, OKOBI is designed as a structured community-based economic model aimed at reducing poverty and unemployment by encouraging families and kindreds to establish registered, profitable, and sustainable group-owned businesses.

He described the initiative as a growing reference point for development policy, noting that its economic impact has continued to resonate across communities in Imo State since its introduction.

“With the backing of the Federal Government, OKOBI is poised to gain the necessary momentum to achieve its full potential at scale,” the governor said, adding that its adoption reflects its “meaningful and measurable impact on the economy.”

Uzodimma further revealed that the programme is expected to be replicated across all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, with Imo State serving as the pilot model.

He expressed optimism that the expansion would help drive inclusive prosperity and strengthen community-based entrepreneurship across Nigeria.
