Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara has declared the augmentation of the lockdown forced on the state by an additional 14 days, to additionally forestall the spread of coronavirus.
The representative declared this on Thursday in Ilorin during the banner off of the biometric enlistment of transporters scheduled to get delicate credits to pad the impacts of the COVID-19 lockdown.
AbdulRazaq said that the augmentation of the lockdown by an additional 14 days was as per the situation of the Federal Government and the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF).
He included that the state recorded two new instances of COVID-19 early Thursday, carrying the quantity of affirmed cases to 11.
The representative included that the two new cases were contacts of the past affirmed cases.
“The lockdown for another two weeks is to reduce the number of cases. As you can see, Kano is going up; Lagos is going up. Even in Kwara, we have two more new cases.
“So there is the need for boundaries to be locked down. Essentially, each state has different policies on lockdown but we want to ensure that people are not moving across boundaries to transmit the virus,” he said.
