I Was Never Paid — LAGRIDE Driver Cries Out Over ₦9m Allegedly Unpaid

LAGRIDE

A driver working with LAGRIDE has alleged months of unpaid earnings and harsh working conditions, sparking concern over labor practices within the ride-hailing service.

The driver, who spoke during a live segment on Nigeria Info 99.3 FM, claimed he has worked for eight months without receiving any payment. According to him, between November and March, he generated up to ₦1.8 million monthly, totaling about ₦9 million in five months, yet was allegedly not paid.

He further alleged that despite the earnings, he has now been told he owes the company ₦1.3 million for failing to meet certain operational targets.

Describing the toll of the job, the driver said he often uses his personal funds to buy fuel and sometimes sleeps inside the vehicle due to long working hours. He added that drivers are expected to work at least 15 hours daily for six days a week.

The emotional revelation has triggered reactions from listeners and raised broader questions about driver welfare, payment structures, and accountability within app-based transportation services in Lagos.
