President Bola Tinubu has appointed Fola Adeola, a seasoned banker and entrepreneur, as Nigeria’s ambassador to the United States.

Adeola is best known as the co-founder of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), where he served as managing director and CEO from 1990 to 2002.

Under his leadership, GTBank became a trailblazer in Nigeria’s banking sector. Adeola retired in 2002, handing over to his deputy, the late Tayo Aderinokun.
