Isaac Fayose, brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has criticised Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke over his declaration of support for President Bola Tinubu, questioning what the governor has done for supporters who reportedly died defending his political mandate.
Fayose made the remarks while reacting to Adeleke’s reported decision to support Tinubu, accusing the governor of abandoning the interests of the people who stood by him during a difficult period.
According to Isaac Fayose, Nigerians often struggle to accept uncomfortable truths, a situation he believes contributes to the country’s persistent challenges.
“Nigeria doesn’t like hearing the truth, and that is why the country is in such a bad state. People prefer to sweep the truth under the carpet,” he said.
He expressed disappointment over Adeleke’s political position, alleging that about 29 people died while defending the governor and his mandate.
Fayose questioned the governor’s decision to align with Tinubu shortly after the reported sacrifices made by his supporters, arguing that their contributions and the welfare of their families should remain a priority.
He also criticised Adeleke’s reported explanation that his support for Tinubu was influenced by their shared Yoruba identity.
Fayose argued that ethnic considerations should not take precedence over accountability to the people, particularly those who supported a politician during challenging times.
“What have you done for them and their families?” he asked, referring to the people he claimed died defending Adeleke.
The critic further alleged that while supporters made sacrifices, the governor’s children were acquiring exotic cars, raising questions about priorities and the responsibilities of political leaders to their supporters.
Fayose also insisted that he was not afraid to speak openly, citing his willingness to tell his brother, Ayodele Fayose, the truth as evidence of his commitment to speaking his mind.
“If I can tell my blood brother, Ayo Fayose, the truth, there is nobody I cannot tell the truth,” he declared.
