Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has criticized the recent political move by Peter Obi to the National Democratic Coalition, raising concerns about his ability to navigate Nigeria’s complex political landscape.
In a reaction shared online, Melaye alleged that Obi has consistently avoided internal party contests and crises, arguing that such a pattern raises questions about his readiness to handle the challenges of governance. He claimed that Nigeria’s political environment is far more demanding than party-level disputes, suggesting that leadership requires resilience in the face of pressure.
Melaye further argued that Obi has benefited from what he described as “convenient political opportunities,” referencing his past tickets under different parties. He maintained that active participation in party primaries is a critical test of political strength and legitimacy.
The former lawmaker also made controversial claims about the structure of the NDC, alleging links with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), a statement that is yet to be independently verified.
