Chief Onyemelukwe Eusebius Zonyelu, a 2027 presidential aspirant and former Action Peoples Party (APP) senatorial candidate for Anambra South, has extended heartfelt Eid al-Fitr greetings to Nigerians, particularly members of the Muslim community, while urging collective action to end violence and strengthen national security.
In a statement released on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, Chief Onyemelukwe congratulated the Muslim community, praying for peace, progress, and renewed faith across the country. However, he also addressed the ongoing insecurity affecting various parts of Nigeria, emphasizing that the killing of innocent citizens—regardless of religion—is unacceptable.
“No religion supports violence, and no culture justifies the killing of innocent people,” Onyemelukwe said. “Those who hide under religion to commit crimes are enemies of both faith and humanity.”
He called on religious leaders, imams, scholars, and youth influencers to take a firm stance against extremism, violence, and intolerance, urging them to use their platforms to promote peace and unity.
Onyemelukwe also urged the Federal Government and security agencies to strengthen intelligence operations, improve rapid response mechanisms, and restore public confidence in Nigeria’s security framework. Furthermore, he called on the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and the international community to collaborate with Nigeria in counter-terrorism and humanitarian support for affected communities.
As part of his presidential agenda for 2027, Onyemelukwe pledged:
To make the security of lives and property a top priority
Zero tolerance for terrorism, banditry, and communal violence
Impartial delivery of justice for all citizens
Equal value for every Nigerian life
“My vision remains clear: a Nigeria where security is guaranteed, justice is non-negotiable, and good governance is the standard—not the exception,” Onyemelukwe stated.
He concluded by emphasizing that peace and unity are essential for national survival, saying, “Together, we will rise above fear, overcome division, and build the Nigeria we all deserve.”
The statement was issued under the banner of the Good Governance Movement of Nigeria and Africa, which Onyemelukwe leads.
