

Governor of Ondo State and Visitor to the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has constituted a Visitation Panel for the institution.
The panel, chaired by Prof. Gbenga Olumekun, includes Elder Idowu Benjamin, Mr. Olumide Ogidan, Mr. Anthony Akala, and Mr. Richard Adeyinka Arifalo (Secretary).
The panel’s terms of reference include reviewing compliance with university statutes and academic programs, assessing financial management practices, examining staff adequacy and development, evaluating industrial relations among management, staff, and students, assessing the state of the university’s properties, and determining compliance with previous visitation panel recommendations.
The panel has been given six weeks to submit its report.
Meanwhile, following the expiration of Prof. Adesegun Fatusi’s tenure as Vice Chancellor, Governor Aiyedatiwa has approved the appointment of Prof. Ebuoluwa Aderonke Adejuyigbe as the new VC.
Her appointment follows the recommendation of the university’s Governing Council.
Prof. Adejuyigbe, a Professor of Paediatrics, hails from Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State. She is currently the Executive Director of the Central Office of Research at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, and a Consultant Paediatrician at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital.
A Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Medicine, she previously served as Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, OAU, and is the Vice-President of the African Society of Paediatric Infectious Diseases as well as Co-Chair of the National Child Health Technical Working Committee.
She is expected to assume office after the submission of the Visitation Panel’s report.
In the interim, Prof. Adolphus Odogun Loto, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration and Clinical Services), will serve as Acting Vice Chancellor until Prof. Adejuyigbe formally takes over.
