Abia State Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has commended the management of Geometric Power for restoring electricity supply in Aba after several days of outage.
The Governor gave the commendation on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, while receiving the management of Geometric Power led by its Chairman, Prof. Barth Nnaji, in his office.
Governor Otti acknowledged the impact of the blackout on residents and businesses in Aba and its environs, noting that the people have become accustomed to having constant power supply under the current administration.
“I must also put on record our appreciation for the resolution of the blackout that lasted several days. At some point, we were running around, and then we got the message that power had been restored. We want to congratulate and thank you,” the Governor said.
“It’s interesting that when power goes out for hours in Aba, people are screaming because they have gotten used to constant electricity,” Gov. Otti stated.
The State Chief Executive urged Geometric Power to put in place multiple sources of gas supply and adequate backup plans to prevent a recurrence of prolonged outages.
“What we need to do now is to ensure that it doesn’t happen again. So, we need to make it permanent, whatever it takes,” Governor Otti said.
Gov. Otti reiterated his administration’s commitment to working with Geometric Power and other stakeholders to sustain the gains in power supply and drive industrialization in the Enyimba City.
The meeting was attended by top officials of Geometric Power and members of the State Executive Council including the Honorable Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities who joined in virtually.
