Peter Andy: His Towering Accomplishments and Magical Wands as Enugu LG Chairman

Peter Andy

Never in the history of local government administration in Enugu State, has a single council boss – young, energetic, sociable, creative, innovative, kind-hearted and urbane, outperformed his peers and smashed the age-long notion that local governments have gone moribund and wrecked by monsters.

The Peter Andy Example at Igboeze South LGA in less than two years can only be likened to what was obtainable in the burgeoning days of Sam Mbakwe and the days of M. I. Okpara of the blessed memory.

Without mincing words and for the umpteenth time, Governor Ifeanyichukwu Lawrence Ugwuanyi was right when against all odds, during the dying days of 2019, the State helmsman went and dug up Comrade Peter Andy and handed him the daunting task of rebranding, recreating and reconstructing the local administration in Igboeze South LGA, as workable template for other LGAs in the state.

The young Mayor did not only deliver on this herculean task, he has even surpassed expectations as his footages across the once little known LGA stands him out as one who came, saw and conquered.

Hereunder are mind blowing proofs.

The Peter Andy adminstration in less than two years, has ensured construction of Motorized Industrial Borehole powered with Mikano Sound-proof generator set at Ikolo, Ibagwa-Aka with overhead water tank and tower; construction of Modern toilet facility at the local government secretariat with overhead water Tank and construction of Motorized Industrial Borehole, powered with Mikano sound-proof generator set at Alor-Agu with overhead water tank and tower.

In less than two years, Hon. Peter Andy constructed Modern toilet facility at Nkwo Ibagwa-Aka with overhead water tank; ensured total overhaul (rehabilitation/renovation) and equiping of Ovoko Health Center to be commissioned soonest; erected Modern toilet facility at Orie Igbo-Eze, Iheaka with overhead water tank
Construction and equipping of modern Health Center at Anyanwu-Anyasi, Ibagwa-Aka.

The Peter Andy administration also constructed Modern toilet facility at Afor Unadu with overhead water tank; ensured On-going construction of Police Post at Orie Igbo-Eze in Iheaka, Ongoing development of a brand new daily market at Iheaka, Part renovation of Ibagwa-Aka Health Center and Ongoing construction of a Town Hall for Ndioke village as part of their compensation for their land used for the construction of Type III Primary Health by the state government.

His administration has ensured Repair of the heavy duty machines (Caterpillar and Grader) that have been abandoned for almost twelve years, Empowerment of 158 village women with #50,000 each for petty businesses, Offsetting of remaining bill for completion and energizing of Uzoego Ibagwa-Aka electricity transformer, Extension of electricity to Unadu community and Petty business support to 347 women and men with #20,000 each.

Above all, his administration motivated 5 youths with special talents in different fields with #500,000 each and another 6th person with #1,000,0000 (one million naira). This is quite unprecedented.

The Peter Andy administration singlehandedly ensured total Offsetting of bill for the repair of Eburummiri borehole, Secured JAMB forms for 250 indigent students of Igbo-Eze South LGA, Appointed 346 persons including youths, mothers and fathers with prompt monthly payments, took over the payment of school fees of 20 indigent students drawn from different universities and Procurement of 500KVA transformer in Ibagwa-Aka town solving a four-year electricity problem.

What more can a local government chairman do to please his people in two years? Hon. Peter Andy has no doubt replicated the Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s rural development drive at Igboeze south LGA and even beyond.

Thank you, the working Mayor. The reward for a good job is more work.

Thank you, the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for giving us Peter Andy.
The Lord bless you, even beyond your expectations.

Mr. Chijiekwu Ugwu writes from UNN.
