A political controversy is brewing in Abia State following criticism directed at the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, over alleged disrespect toward former governor and senator, Orji Uzor Kalu.

In a strongly worded statement attributed to Victor Chigozie Eneh, Benjamin Kalu was accused of showing disregard for Orji Uzor Kalu, who is widely regarded as his political benefactor. The statement claimed that the former governor played a key role in Kalu’s rise in politics, including appointing him as a local government chairman and supporting his journey to the National Assembly.

The criticism comes amid an ongoing dispute over who should lead the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, with tensions reportedly growing between both camps. Eneh described the situation as “sad,” arguing that such a public disagreement reflects a lack of respect and appreciation.

He further called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene and restore order within the party in the state.
