Abuja’s international conference center has undergone a significant transformation, receiving a facelift and a new name: The Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Center.
The revamped facility was officially reopened by President Tinubu as part of a series of federal capital territory projects marking his second year in office.
President Tinubu expressed his profound dissatisfaction with the center’s previous state, recalling his shock at finding it a “very dirty, disorganized, inhabitable environment” during an ECOWAS parliament conference months prior.
He emphasized that the revamp is not merely about infrastructure but reflects on the national image. The president noted that the original contractor from over three decades ago was brought back to execute the transformation. He described this project as aligning with his “renewed hope agenda” across energy, education, and urban renewal, and commended the FCT minister, urging him to disregard criticisms and “continue with your good work” as a “transformational leader”.
