The University of Ilorin will graduate 16,152 students during its 41st convocation ceremonies, with 365 of them earning First Class degrees in the 2025/2026 academic session.
President Bola Tinubu is also expected to commission selected projects at the institution on Thursday as part of activities marking the convocation.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole (SAN), disclosed this on Monday during a pre-convocation press briefing at the university auditorium in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Egbewole said Tinubu, who serves as the university’s visitor, would commission some completed projects and inspect ongoing ones that have reached various stages of completion.
Beyond the regular degree programmes, the vice-chancellor announced that 8,320 students graduated through the university’s U-INSPIRE programme, designed to equip participants with additional 21st-century skills.
He said the programme, implemented in partnership with 10 industry partners, was aimed at preparing graduates for the changing demands of the workplace and entrepreneurship.
According to Egbewole, the graduating students reflect the institution’s continued efforts to strengthen academic excellence, professional training, research and innovation.
He also disclosed that the university secured full accreditation for 11 academic programmes following the National Universities Commission’s accreditation exercise in November 2025.
In another achievement, Egbewole said UNILORIN became the first Nigerian university to win the 2025/2026 Responsible Futures Fee Waiver Grant awarded by the International Association of Universities.
The initiative promotes sustainability within higher education institutions, further highlighting the university’s efforts to incorporate sustainability into its academic and institutional activities.
The 41st convocation is expected to showcase the institution’s academic achievements, skills-development initiatives and infrastructure projects as it celebrates another set of graduating students.
