Two Million Farmers to Vote Tinubu in 2027, Yari Claims

Yari

The Director-General of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has claimed that approximately two million farmers have pledged their support for the President ahead of the 2027 general elections, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) intensifies efforts to consolidate its support base.

Yari made the claim on Saturday during the APC presidential campaign flag-off rally in Kaduna State, where he defended the Tinubu administration’s agricultural policies and dismissed opposition criticism of its handling of farmers’ welfare.

According to the former Zamfara State governor, the alleged endorsement followed engagements between the APC leadership, its campaign team and farmers to communicate the administration’s agricultural interventions and proposed support measures.

He maintained that farmers understood the government’s efforts better than political opponents who, he alleged, were portraying the administration as hostile to their interests.

“By God’s grace, about two million farmers have made a commitment to vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, in sha Allah,” Yari declared.

The campaign director also accused opposition parties of using artificial intelligence-generated content and misinformation to undermine Tinubu’s public image, insisting that such tactics would not guarantee electoral victory.

He argued that the APC would counter the opposition’s narratives by highlighting the administration’s achievements and strengthening direct engagement with Nigerians.

Yari’s remarks come as political parties begin positioning themselves for the 2027 elections, with economic conditions, agricultural productivity and the cost of living expected to remain central issues in the contest for voters’ support.

Defending the administration’s economic record, Yari cited what he described as improvements in the foreign exchange market and Nigeria’s external reserves.

He claimed that the exchange rate had improved from nearly N1,800 to about N1,300 per dollar, while the country’s foreign reserves had risen from approximately $3.9 billion to $54.7 billion.

The figures were presented by Yari as evidence of the government’s efforts to stabilise the economy, although he acknowledged that Nigerians continued to face economic difficulties.

Explaining the choice of Kaduna for the campaign launch, Yari described the state as a strategic political centre in northern Nigeria, noting that its selection was deliberate.

He praised Governor Uba Sani and other APC governors for their roles in organising the event, saying extensive preparations and coordination had contributed to the turnout.

The campaign DG further disclosed that the party was engaging traditional rulers, community elders, Islamic clerics and other influential stakeholders across northern Nigeria to strengthen its grassroots mobilisation ahead of the polls.

He expressed confidence that northern voters would support Tinubu’s second-term ambition, assuring the President that APC governors and party structures would continue working to improve the party’s electoral prospects.

However, Yari’s assertion that two million farmers have pledged to support Tinubu remains a claim by the campaign leadership, with no independent verification provided in his remarks.

As the 2027 election approaches, the APC’s ability to translate its claimed endorsements into votes will depend partly on voters’ assessments of the administration’s economic policies, agricultural support programmes and response to the everyday challenges facing Nigerians.
