There has been a lot of unpleasant happenings in Nigeria late and the most common challenge is Insecurity. While the President Muhamadu Buhari’s led Federal government is trying to put on end to this, the United States of America has reacted the handling of the situation by the federation.
Speaking earlier today during the maiden edition of “grow Nigeria Conversation”, Former US Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr John Campbell, disclosed that if the federal government of Nigeria fails to address the problem of human rights abuses by security forces, that the country may never receive technical and financial assistance in the fight against insecurity.
He said that the US laws prohibit the American government from supporting any security forces accused of human rights violations.
He however, charged the federal government to do all it can to restore public confidence in the security, especially the police.
The message from the United States should be taken seriously because we need all the help we can get to help win the war against insecurity.
