Veteran Nollywood actor, Clemson Cornell Agbogidi, has recounted an incident involving popular actress Liz Benson on the set of a movie titled Frustration.
Agbogidi said Benson reportedly became frightened after discovering that a real native doctor had been brought to the set to feature alongside her.
According to the actor, the situation escalated when he brought a live chicken onto the set and decapitated it during the scene.
He recalled that Benson subsequently told the production team that she would no longer continue with the movie.
> “When I brought a live chicken on set and decapitated the chicken in a twinkle of an eye, I separated the head from the body. Liz said she’s not playing again,” he said.
Agbogidi explained that he has always been committed to fully immersing himself in his roles, saying his approach to acting could sometimes make audiences uncomfortable.
“I have always believed that I interpret a role perfectly. If I’m doing it, I’m doing it. When you look at me, my eyes are blazing and you can’t stand me,” he said.
The veteran actor also reflected on traditional religious practices in pre-Christian Nigeria, arguing that not everyone who practised traditional religion was necessarily evil.
“Before Christianity, our forefathers were there. Most of them that worshipped idols were not evil. Some of them were so conscious,” Agbogidi stated.
He further contrasted the moral restrictions he associated with some traditional practitioners with what he described as the conduct of some Christians today.
“There were things they could not do because they could be killed. But today, Christians, they do and do and undo,” he added.
