“We Will Resist” — Atiku Fires Warning at INEC Over ADC Crisis

Atiku

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has issued a strong warning to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), accusing the electoral body of actions that threaten Nigeria’s democracy.

Speaking at the ADC national convention in Abuja, Atiku alleged that INEC, under its chairman, is being used to undermine democratic processes and interfere in party affairs.

He warned that the opposition would not remain silent, declaring that they would resist any attempt to erode democratic principles, just as Nigerians fought to end military rule.

Atiku specifically accused INEC of illegalities and bias, particularly in relation to its handling of the leadership crisis within the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

His remarks follow recent controversies surrounding INEC’s decision to withdraw recognition of certain ADC leadership structures, a move the party and its supporters have strongly opposed.

The development adds to growing political tension between opposition figures and the electoral body, as debates intensify over fairness, neutrality, and credibility of Nigeria’s electoral system ahead of the 2027 elections.
