2027: Adeleke Says Tinubu Needs More Than Four Years to Deliver Reforms

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has thrown his support behind President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, arguing that the president needs more than four years to deliver the intended results of his economic reforms.

Adeleke made the declaration on Wednesday during the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he called for continued support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.

The governor, who belongs to the Accord party, said the administration needed more time to consolidate its reform agenda, describing four years as insufficient for the policies to achieve their desired outcomes.

“We must give our father, the president of this nation, time for his reform to work. It’s not easy. Four years is not enough,” Adeleke said.

Explaining his presence at the event, the Osun governor declared his willingness to support the president’s second-term ambition.

“That is why I’m here to throw my weight,” he added.

Adeleke also urged supporters of the president to intensify their mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 election, expressing confidence in Tinubu’s bid to secure another term in office.

“Nobody can stop this movement. We’re going to sing; we’re going to dance all the way back to Aso Rock,” he said.

He further called on Nigerians to continue praying for Tinubu, arguing that the success of the president’s administration would have wider implications for the country.

“The work has begun. I’ve already started mine. Let us rise and make sure our president comes back for the second time,” Adeleke said.

“Continue praying for Mr President. If he succeeds, we all succeed. And I know by the special grace of God, we shall get there.”

Adeleke’s declaration comes amid efforts by the APC to strengthen its campaign structure ahead of the 2027 general election.

The party’s revised Presidential Campaign Council list, released on Tuesday, named Adeleke as Tinubu’s campaign coordinator in Osun State, despite his membership of the Accord party.

The list also featured Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, while the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, was named campaign coordinator for Rivers State and the FCT.

Adeleke’s participation in the APC campaign council highlights the cross-party political alignments emerging ahead of the next presidential election, as political figures position themselves around Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
