2027: Wike Tells Opposition to Acknowledge Tinubu’s Achievements

Wike,

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has urged opposition politicians to acknowledge what he described as the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, insisting that political differences should not prevent them from recognising policies they consider beneficial to the country.

Wike made the remarks on Wednesday, October 14, during the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja, which attracted party leaders, governors and other political stakeholders.

Speaking at the event, the former Rivers State governor described himself as a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while explaining his support for Tinubu, arguing that party affiliation should not prevent politicians from acknowledging positive developments under an administration.

He faulted opposition narratives portraying the Tinubu administration as lacking direction, maintaining that the President had demonstrated a willingness to confront difficult national challenges that previous governments had struggled to address.

On national security, Wike expressed confidence in the administration’s ability to tackle insecurity and highlighted the proposed establishment of state police as a reform that could strengthen security management across the country.

The debate over state police has remained a major national issue, with stakeholders raising questions about constitutional provisions, funding, accountability and the relationship between federal and state security authorities.

The FCT minister also challenged members of the Presidential Campaign Council to justify their positions by delivering measurable results within their respective areas of responsibility.

He stressed the importance of translating political influence and appointments into tangible outcomes rather than relying solely on official positions.

Wike’s remarks were highlighted in a review of the inauguration proceedings prepared by the Media and Publicity Team of the Forum of Chief Executives of Federal Parastatals (FORCEPA).

The inauguration also brought together political figures from different parties, including Anambra State Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.

According to the FORCEPA Media and Publicity Team, the event provided an opportunity for political stakeholders to articulate their positions on governance, public accountability, security reforms and the relationship between political competition and national development.

The forum maintained that assessments of government performance should be based on verifiable policies, measurable outcomes and the experiences of Nigerians across different sectors.
