Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, his first known visit since his suspension was lifted last week.
Fubara arrived at the Villa at 6:20 p.m. on Monday, dressed in a white outfit and black cap. His appearance follows the lifting of a six-month state of emergency in Rivers, during which he, his deputy, and state lawmakers were suspended and an administrator installed.
On resuming office, the governor in a state broadcast thanked President Tinubu for what he called a “timely intervention” in declaring the emergency and for his commitment to restoring peace and stability in the state.
As of the time of filing this report, Fubara was holding a closed door meeting with the president.
