A viral video showing passengers raising concerns over conditions inside one of Enugu State’s “Tomorrow Is Here” CNG buses has triggered renewed questions about passenger safety and the enforcement of public transport standards.
In the footage, a female passenger alleged that two tyres burst while the bus was in motion, while other passengers complained about what appeared to be excessive overcrowding.
Some passengers claimed that more than 150 people were inside the bus at the time. Akelicious has not independently verified the figure, nor confirmed the circumstances surrounding the reported tyre failures.
The incident, however, has drawn attention to broader concerns surrounding the maintenance of mass transit vehicles, passenger capacity and the need for regular safety inspections.
With the buses serving large numbers of residents daily, passengers’ safety depends on properly maintained vehicles, roadworthiness checks and adherence to approved capacity limits.
No casualty was reported in the video, but the footage has intensified calls for authorities and transport operators to ensure that safety remains a priority across the mass transit system.
